This position operates heavy equipment used in spreading, covering, loading, and/or compacting waste or spoil in an efficient and safe manner to our landfill and earth-moving operations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of heavy equipment operations and the operation of heavy equipment in relation to landfill, mining, and reclamation activities.
  • Ability to operate dozer, front end loader, excavator, articulated trucks, end dumps, grader, scraper, or ability to learn how to operate equipment as needed.
  • Ability to troubleshoot minor repairs as needed.
  • Must be able to successfully pass pre-employment drug screen, background, and motor vehicle records check.
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities and Duties for Heavy Equipment Operators:

  • Operate mining equipment as necessary.
  • Perform pre/post trip inspections on all equipment.
  • Operate dozer, front end loader, excavator, articulated trucks, end dumps, grader, scraper as needed.
  • Troubleshoot minor repairs as needed.
  • Perform manual labor including picking up trash, setting water pumps and dragging hose.
  • Must work outside in all weather conditions.
  • Continuously monitor the condition of the equipment to ensure it is always operationally ready to minimize down time; clean tracks or wheels on equipment as needed.
  • Move and position raw materials and finished products with the use of material moving equipment.
  • This position entails operating and navigating machinery around and near high walls.
  • This position requires the ability to navigate and operate machinery in changing traffic patterns.
  • Heavy equipment operators are required to watch all road hazards and abstain from operating practices that incur wear and tear outside normal operating conditions.
  • Regular attendance consistent with the Company Attendance Policy.
  • All other duties as assigned by management.
